i've tried different livecds here, my own, gentoo one, debian one. then all crash more or less with this driver. so the fault must be in qemu code somewhere.

?1. Isn't cmd64x a "quirks" driver to work around known bugs in the CMD 64x IDE chipsets?

?2. If yes, then the next question is if the qemu emulated hardware looks anything like a CMD 64x?.

?3 If no to ?2, how does cmd64x.ko determine if the IDE chipset is one that cmd64x.ko should
handle?
