Hi everyone,

The QEMU v8.1.2 stable release is now available.

You can grab the tarball from our download page here:

  https://www.qemu.org/download/#source

v8.1.2 is now tagged in the official qemu.git repository, and the
stable-8.1 branch has been updated accordingly:

  https://gitlab.com/qemu-project/qemu/-/commits/stable-8.1?ref_type=heads

This update finally contains fixes for a few issues which were part of
8.1.0 release and which remained unfixed in 8.1.1 stable release, namely:

   https://gitlab.com/qemu-project/qemu/-/issues/1826
   https://gitlab.com/qemu-project/qemu/-/issues/1834
   https://gitlab.com/qemu-project/qemu/-/issues/1846

Also a fix for CVE-2023-42467 is included in this release.

There's at least one known regression in 8.1.1 which is not fixed in 8.1.2,
causing systems using legacy reset mechanism for SATA devices instead of using
more robust COMRESET mechanism. Notable this causes FreeBSD to hang:

thanks to Niklas Cassel for the fix. Hopefully it will be included in the next
8.1 stable release, among a few other fixes waiting to be included into the
master branch.

Thank you everyone who has been involved and helped with the stable series!
