Nice - thanks for looking into these issues and reporting them. There is likely 
some
other low hanging fruit e.g. converting more accesses of the form .uX[i] into 
VsrX(i)
which can potentially be done, but without much in the way of test coverage 
against
real hardware I've been reluctant to go ahead with more changes.
