The scripts trap exit to perform the cleanup, and that cleanup
includes terminating the QEMU processes, removing the FIFOs, etc..

The intent is to allow _timed_wait_for() to cause automatic test
failure if the expected response is not seen.

That is what the ${qemu_wait_no_error} does - if it is set, then we
do not exit, but return -1 by means of QEMU_STATUS[$h].

The idea here is that if you don't want _send_qemu_cmd() to cause a
test failure on a bad response, you would pass a NULL string in for
the expected response.

But if this also allowed checking $qemu_wait_no_error here, so that a
test failure is not forced in _send_qemu_cmd(), then that would allow
for negative testing.  I'll add that in.
