So where do we stand with this?

I guess you have to tell us. :)

I certainly can resubmit with a new date, say 2011-02-25 to make sure that no
commits will be done on exactly that date.

I'm not opposed to this type of change, but the patch doesn't apply regardless of the date because of a submodule change that was there.
