Well, you can using OpenGL and Apple's Extension have a nearly direct
VRAM access, the idea is to use
glEnable( GL_UNPACK_CLIENT_STORAGE_APPLE );
glPixelStorei( GL_UNPACK_CLIENT_STORAGE_APPLE, GL_TRUE );
and
glTexParameteri( VLCGL_TARGET, GL_TEXTURE_STORAGE_HINT_APPLE,
GL_STORAGE_SHARED_APPLE );
On the texture on which you want to draw. See:
