slirp is supposed to automatically "NAT" this on FTP connections on port 21, but perhaps there is something fishy with the version embedded in qemu..

When you FTP to the virtual address then this tranlation is required both ways (both PORT & PASV). The difference is mainly when you FTP to the real host address.
