The solution is pretty simple: I didn't install from my pro CD, but
instead downloaded a corp cd from edonkey... I'm not sure how legal that
is but given that pro and corp are identical feature-wise I don't think
there's anything wrong with it. The corp version doesn't seem to have
these extended license checks... so it works find in qemu
