Hi,
When trying to install Fedora Core 2, the IDE probe takes a _really_ long
time to complete. It takes about 10 seconds before it displays
"hda: QEMU HARDDISK, ATA DISK drive", and then it takes at least a minute
or two before it displays "hdc: QEMU CD-ROM, ATAPI CD/DVD-ROM drive".
Just before that, it mentions this, though:
Losing too many ticks!
TSC cannot be used as a timesource.
Possible reasons for this are:
You're running with Speedstep,
You don't have DMA enabled for your hard disk (see hdparm).
Incorrect TSC synchronization on an SMP system (see dmesg).
It's still paused (after displaying hdc: blah) right now, with qemu at 99%
CPU. I'll wait for a while to see if it ever gets through this stage at all.
cheers,
Lennert
