and for whatever reason the texi-vers.patch disappeared in 0.8.3-5. I will 

send an updated package.

I see that there are two "Updating ./doc/version.texi" lines in the output just
before the failure.  Maybe the parallel build somehow decided to update that
file twice at the same time?  Probably a bug in PSPP makefiles, then.
