Thanks for pointing out those problems. I've fixed them in my
local copy.
I'm going to wait to push anything until I get Bruno's question
about hard links and my own concern about renaming directories
resolved.
I wonder whether there anyone has written an Emacs hook to
automatically update serial numbers at buffer save time? Then I
wouldn't get this wrong, although I might increment the serial
numbers more than necessary sometimes.
