Try also putting some lines like

g_debug ("%s:%d", __FILE__, __LINE__);

into the code. The initialise procedure in psppire.c is a good place
to start. This way you might be able to find the last good line
before the crash.

     The verbose debug show me about 70MB of output, and I can find
     anything useful on it. If I run psppire --help, it works, but with any
     other option or no options it crashes, always showing the same
     backtrace. I also wasn`t able to find the code line of the problem.
     Even compiling pspp with --enable-debug or with CFLAGS='-g'. Something
     that I discovery is that its break before needs libpsppire
     or libpsppwidget because it doesn`t complain if they are missing.
     Other clue is that the splash image appears before the crash.

     I think that I rollback my branch step by step, until find one version
     who works.
