Qemu "user-mode" allows to run Linux binaries for different architectures
on a stock x86_64 hardware. Combining this with a cross-compiler (such as
those shipped in Debian or Ubuntu), you get a reasonably working development
environment.[1]
Test results in these environments:
alpha All OK
armhf All OK
arm64 The 'reuse' test hangs. But on real arm64 hardware it
works.
hppa All OK
mips32 All OK
mips64 All OK
powerpc All OK
powerpc64 All OK
powerpc64-elfv2 All OK
s390x All OK
sparc64 All OK
On the other hand, on
m68k
sh4
there seem to be problems with the emulator: already during gmp's "make check",
several tests fail.
