Hi,

i would like to start some thoughts how opensync could look like from
the users perspective.

I attached a drawing which i will explain now:

Point 1 shows some of the application that will hopefully one day use
the opensync api. Each one of them queries opensync to get a list of the
available plugins, plugin configuration etc. Multisync and Ksync are
standalone synchronization applications, KSync taking the KDE part,
Multisync the gnome part. Evolution would be an example that could use
opensync to provide synchronzation directly embedded in the application.
phpgroupware would be a example for another application which could
provide synchronzation.

All of these use the same plugins, therefore if one plugin is added it
would immediatly be available to all applications (Point 3).

Point 2 shows that opensync also handles the configuration the user has
taken. So if he changes a setting in evolution and later uses ksync,
these setting will immediatly show up.

Thats kind of what im trying to achieve with opensync for the normal
user.

Comments appreciated :)

Armin
