[Phpgroupware-developers] phpGroupWare

Hi all,

First off, I joined the openSync list a couple of days ago, and I like
what I am reading.

I don't really have many suggestions at this stage. I thought it would
be useful to mention phpGroupWare, and explain a little about what we
are doing.

phpGroupWare is a web based groupware suite, written in - you guessed it
php :)

We currently have a syncML interface which relies on sync4j. Our sync
interface involves several layers. The layers start with the phpgw app,
and build to something for sync4j to hook into. This was developed by
pro|business AG. Documentation on the interface is available from
http://www.probusiness.de/projekte/phpgroupware/sync.html

Another phpgw dev is working on a pure php syncML server.

As the sync interface is layered, it would be possible for openSync (or
anything else) to hook into phpgw at a lower level using XML-RPC.

I am working on a realtime iCal interface for phpGW, so far it only
exports an iCal file. Unfortunately this has stalled due to lack of
time :( The aim of this is to allow phpGW user's calendar entries to be
available in 3rd party apps, such as mozCal or Apple's iCal.

I think a project like openSync could work in well with the development
plan for phpGW. The write once, use many times concept is a great one.
I (and I am sure others) would be interested in working with openSync to
have a portable and widely available sync interface for phpGW.

Cheers

Dave
