oh, so you want to over ride the row color depending on the status?  simple, 
call
the alternate and then set the var to override it.  Personaly I think it's  a 
custom
enough solution with a simple enough work around that it doesn't warent 
changing the
API.

Also, please set your email prefs to send only plain text to the list email 
address
so as to make your emails less than half the size.
