Hi Brad,

I have just tried your patch and it fails to work with small cache
sizes. I see it hard to fix that in your implementation.

I had already sent a patch for the LZW filter implementation:

It worked ok but failed with very small cache sizes (< 5). I can tune it
so it works ok with cache sizes >= 1.

I'm sorry for being absent from the list so long. I have just finished
my exams and can work again on this if you want me to.
