Subject: | [Partysip-dev] how to configure iptables on partysip firewall, using messenger as client |
Date: | Mon, 8 Jul 2002 15:35:24 +0200 |
Hello people!
I'm trying to get my Messenger to transfer files,
do voicechat etcetera thru my iptables firewall...
I can sign in using the communication service
thingy and do the chat thing perfectly, so that all seems to
work...
As I understand it, if I were to initiate a
transfer from my workstation, the request would be sent to partysip, and is
passed on the intended receiver. Meanwhile the sender (my machine) is listening
for a connection to send the file over.
The receiver gets the request and connects to the
proxy. The proxy is expecting this, and passes the request to my workstation and
the file is transferred.
All connections are UDP I suppose, as the
partysip docs tell me TCP is not supported yet.
So the recipient makes a UDP connection to the
proxy... On what port is this? Because I'll probably need to allow incoming UDP
traffic so the proxy can receive the request and pass it on...
Thanks, GG.
