Ultimately I would like to use my UAV for aerial photography. Ideally to support people like OSM and perhaps local farmers. (Something useful should come out of it)

I suppose that is what many do, but I don't seem to find really comprehensive guides on how to approach that.

Starting with camera modules. I suppose on fixed wing two axis stabilisation is overkill? What is most useful? I suppose just bunging the camera under a wing (actually embed it into the foam) could be just sufficient? And how do you trigger the camera ( I have a point and shoot Canon IXUS ). I would hate to use a servo switch. And how do the flight plans actually control the trigger?

And kind of most important. How does it all come together? How to you merge flight logs with the images for photogrammetry? And what software is can be used to stitch them together? (Opensoure on Linux if possible)

I guess I'm asking a lot of pretty trivial questions here. But this seems like a avenue that many or most have taken already. I would be thankful for any directions on how to approach that based on your experience.

Thanks
 Tilman
