I agree, it is overwhelming and it's something that I want to help document.
I don't have much to offer at this point but Gautier did share a block
diagram with me that might be useful to you. I'll scan it and place it on
the wiki.

Hi,
my name is Balazs Gati and I am working on the setup of a test aircraft
(Easy Glider Electric) based on the Paparazzi project. I choosed
paparazzi because its flexibility and great GCS. Respect for your work
and the decision to make it avaiable for all!
My latest flight was the first time I turned on AUTO2 mode. I am very
happy because the plane flew very safe, but unfortunately it couldn't
catch the curve over the standby WP. I am working on the solution of
this problem, and I feel me lost in the jungle of the parameters. I read
the wiki and OSAM home page, but I am missing an overview on the
structure of the control logic (i.e. a block diagram) because I am not a
big C guru to be able to create it based on the source code. Can be
found such kind of info already on the internet?
Thank you in advance,
Balazs
