Hi All,

I offer this only as hope to others that I have none of these problems with 9.10. I have 9.10 on VirtualBox running on a Mac Mini and use that to program the USB bootloader for new boards. I also have as a ground station an ASUS AspireOne ZA3 (Atom processor) with 9.10. Both were new installs fresh and not upgrades from a previous Ubuntu version. I have applied all updates from Ubuntu. I did not apply FTDI driver updates or make any changes.

I did have to be sure to copy the rules file to avoid getting permission errors opening the USB port. :) 

Stephen just know it can be done. Sometimes just knowing that helps me to keep trying. Was your 9.10 a fresh install? To be honest when following the Wiki steps exactly I have never had issues. Just only when I forget steps or upgrading.

In the case of Gareth's (Re: GPSD) at least I could use the USB uploaded cable without incurring unlock errors within the Paparazzi Centre console. 

 

But in case of Antoine's advice none of the fixes worked for me.

 

I tried to re-implement the FTDI driver update referenced here: http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?t=1327965

 

Unfortunately, the line: "sudo apt-get build-dep linux-image-$(uname -r) fakeroot", in the following instruction set

generates an error saying the linux source, in my case, 2.6.31-16-generic cannot be found. 

 

Download the kernel source for the current kernel using apt and satisfy the build dependencies:

# cd
# cd
# cd kernel
# sudo apt-get build-dep linux-image-$(uname -r) fakeroot
# sudo apt-get install kernel-package
# apt-get source linux-image-$(uname -r)
# cd linux-$(uname -r)

 I am left with the choice, given my limited capabilities, to revert to a working distro, i.e., 9.04, if I want to continue 

flying with 'Paparazzi'.
