Hi,
I would like to add my details to the user list - please could someone
give me a clue how do so?
I have clicked "edit" at the top of the page, but the resulting page
looks like a great way to make a mess of everything. Am I missing
something obvious?
Obvious but not intuitive:
1) It looks nasty, but it isn't really that bad. If you get confused,
hit the "cancel" link at the bottom of the page and try again.
Use the "show preview" to verify it looks like what you expect
(edit and preview till it meets your expectations).
2) Wiki people and Open Source people learn by doing. Wikis and Open
Source software are structured such that the cost of failure is
low.
3) The page is revision controlled so, if you ball things up
irreparably, you (we) simply revert the previous page and try
again.
4) There are a lot of people that can help. The best way to get them
to help is to do something "nearly right." This bugs the h*** out
of all us pompous know-it-alls and it becomes a race to see who
will be first to fix it. ;-)
Even the suits are starting to realize point #4:
"Why Doing Things Half Right Gives You the Best Results"
<http://blogs.harvardbusiness.org/cs/2009/02/for_fullscale_returns_do_thing.html>
Copy the "new user" template line, paste it back in to create a new
line, and then add your info to the new line. Alternatively, if someone
else has "nearly" the same configuration, copy their line and paste it
in on the bottom of the appropriate table (above the "new user" template
line) and edit it.
Many thanks
Regards
Alan K.
