mmm this questions has been posed and answered many times. Connecting an IMU to a Tiny is trivial, whether it be a analog, SPI, or I2C interface. The problem becomes achieving an accurate position in space from something that does not do so on its own. IR sensors do this directly, with an IMU you must fuse the data together to get an accurate estimate of the orientation. This has been done on a quadrotor using paparazzi, but the dynamics of a small fixed wing UAV make it much more difficult. So there is really no comparison to the IR at this time because no one has done it.

Has anyone tried using an IMU instead of the IR sensors with Tiny 1.1 or 2 ? What is the performance if compared to the IR sensor ones? Where can I get the IMU listed on the wiki?
