[Pan-devel] Cannot compile latest CVS (autogen "unexpected token 'echo'")

I can't find mention of this so I'm posting it.

Checked out latest CVS.

Cannot run autogen, the log is as follows (scroll to end):

Looks like a macro related problem but i have not the science to solve it.
Sticking with previous release for the moment.
