How about the ability to abbreviate all but the last two segments
of the group hierarchy? So, gmane.comp.gnome.apps.pan.devel would
abbreviate to g.c.g.a.pan.devel. This seems to be more readable
for many groups (at least the ones that I read).  --freeslkr
