I'm afraid you got me wrong, sorry, I should have been more clear.
What I did it wait until you got your code improvements right, and only then
start fixing issues that were there from before you worked on boxplot. The
other way round would have implied much more work for you and thus the risk of
a frustrated Octave contributor :-)

The plot if blocks were there from the beginning, before you started working
on it. You did copy a lot of duplicate code there but that was due to the way
the code was set up. Same for the somewhat involved switch statement setup and
several style issues. I can't blame you for those :-)
BTW I'm still pondering about how to morph the vertical and horizontal
plotting if blocks into one. Should be possible, the code is essentially the
same save swapping X/Y axes.

boxplot can surely use some more testing. If you run into issues please supply
the relevant use code snippets, than I (or you if you want) can make BIST
tests out of them.
