Update of patch #8696 (project octave):

                Category: None => Core : new feature
                Priority:              5 - Normal => 3 - Low
                  Status:                    None => Postponed

Follow-up Comment #2:

Review for Octave 6.

This patch seems useful, but does no longer apply cleanly to the development
branch. Do you want to refactor it?

Setting to "postponed" and lowering priority.
