Follow-up Comment #14, patch #8872 (project octave):

I found the issue that led to a problem when cross-referencing "reducepatch"
(see comment #10) and updated the patch there.
I cannot duplicate the issue with cross-referencing "material" here. But will
try to find out what is going wrong anyway.

Regarding the umlaut-u: It seems the headers of my generated patches have not
been UTF-8 encoded. I hope future uploads will be ok.
