Thanks! IMHO that is pretty useful.
Do you think you could provide a patch that adds this to default Octave? Maybe 
by calling runtests directly.

I've also seen this crash initially. But after 2 or 3 attempts, I can no longer 
reproduce the crash (surprisingly).
