Going from version 7.3.0 to the newly released version 8.1.0, I noticed that
when I enter the "Edit->Preferences" menu, version 8.1.0 takes much longer to
open the menu and takes much longer to apply the settings. Sometimes, even the
Windows window appears asking to either wait or close the program.
This happens whether I choose "software OpenGL" or "system OpenGL" in the
switcher.

It also happens in the MSYS2-MINGW64 version (via the
"mingw-w64-x86_64-octave" package), always on Windows 11.

With version 7.3.0, there are no problems.

My CPU is AMD Ryzen 7 5700u (AMD Radeon Vega).

Is this problem mine (graphics drivers?) or something else?
