@Philip: you are right, I was distracted by the title of this report. If the
aim was to improve XML support in Octave, I thought it might be worth
focussing on readstruct/writestruct but this will not really help if the aim
is to build the tools in order to implement xlsread/xlswrite. Given the rather
generic naming of readstruct/writestruct, I wonder if they will go beyond XML
in future releases.
