Follow-up Comment #25, bug #59203 (project octave):

Applied the patch, updated % rebuilt OF-windows, and run some tests, results
attached as png's <Before.....> and <After....>.

The results show that before the patch, as far as encoding goes:
* COM has issues,
* the Java-based interfaces POI and UNO work but not perfect,
* OCT works wonderfully,
and after the patches for both io and windows:
* the Java-based interfaces POI and UNO work but not perfect,
* COM and OCT work wonderfully.

Q1: Are you satisfied with the results so far? (I am).

Q2: There maybe little we can do for the Java-based interfaces, can we?
I've attached a v7 mat-file with the ???txt made with the patched OF packages,
so you can inspect the results from these interfaces.
