Follow-up Comment #8, bug #59215 (project octave):

Looking at `get_jvm_lib_path_from_registry` in `ov-java.cc`, the logic until
now was to search for newer versions first. Only if they can't be found, try
older versions.

Would checking the registry values at
"HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\software\javasoft\jdk" first lead to an error if only(!)
older JREs are installed?
