Follow-up Comment #8, bug #57463 (project octave):
Shouldn't there be logic to migrate a user's existing history file? I just
updated to cset 28854 and my previous Octave sessions are not available. On
the good side, they haven't been removed, they are just at the old location of
~/.octave_hist.
