Follow-up Comment #2, bug #58769 (project octave):
Hi Kai, Thanks for your quick reply. Your result prompted me to uninstall and
reinstall Octave 5.2.0 (with Flatpak) and that fixed the problem.
Not sure what happened, but I had been using Octave for months and today after
a routine system prompted software update it failed as described below.
I'm using Ubuntu 18.04. The problem manifested using both GUI and the command
line. graphics_tookit() produced ans = qt
It seems to be fine now, but when I launch it with:
flatpak run org.octave.Octave
I receive the duplicate message:
Gtk-Message: 18:51:16.444: Failed to load module "canberra-gtk-module"
