Follow-up Comment #22, bug #58689 (project octave): Thanks again for your help. The "mingw-" prefix for patch files is exactly what I was looking for. I tried to scan for the packages that add mesa as a dependency. That dependency seems to be conditional on USE_SYSTEM_OPENGL being set to "no" everywhere (except for in glu which itself is only build when USE_SYSTEM_OPENGL is "no"). AFAICT mesa is never built if USE_SYSTEM_OPENGL is "yes". So it is probably ok to remove the logic around USE_SYSTEM_OPENGL from the mesa.mk file. In the meantime, the first successful builds completed with mesa 20.0.8 for w64-mingw and native Linux.
