The latter one was my fail. The initial bug that I was confused, was about a
rounding error, which make impossible to work with a square function properly.
The bug is easily to fix, but how you always mentioned, matlab has the same
problem...

My opinion is that it isnt necessary to maintain some kind of
bug-compatibility, but its is only IMHO.
