Follow-up Comment #6, bug #58413 (project octave):
For anyone interested, this Ubuntu problem has now been diagnosed and is on
its way to being fixed. The cause is that Ubuntu builds all packages with the
'-Bsymbolic-functions' linker option by default, and for some reason that
causes a problem with the OpenBLAS library built with pthreads.
