Natively, OpenGL only defines three line primitives: GL_LINES, GL_LINE_STRIP
and GL_LINE_LOOP basically defined as a succession of end points:

We have an open bug about moving away from those primitives since we also use
GL_LINE_STIPPLE which is now deprecated: bug #46739.
