Follow-up Comment #97, bug #57635 (project octave):

Fedora is already hit by the problem. For mxe-octave we have a solution.
Whether other major distributions like Ubuntu or Debian will also be affected
depends on whether QTBUG-83720 will be fixed in Qt 5.13.x / 5.14.x. If not,
the problem will suddenly appear, and it will disappear just as suddenly as
soon the distribution updates to Qt >= 5.15.1. However, this period can take
some time. I feel like Philip. But in the end, it is a decision whether we
want to take the risk that the problem also occurs in Linux distributions
other than Fedora, or whether we live with a workaround.

A first test of patch v04 looks promising ;-) But I want to take a little more
time for testing because it's convoluted.
