Details:

In Matlab, class and package directories that are found on the PATH are
returned by what().  As an example,


what ("ftp")
what ("@ftp")


Package directories are also included.  For example,


what ("matlab")
what ("+matlab")


Octave uses the function dir_in_loadpath() to check whether a name is on the
loadpath.  I think any change would need to start there.
