Follow-up Comment #1, bug #56629 (project octave): Maybe to not get in conflict with future attempts to be compatible to some Matlab function "inverse" from some "map.geodesy.authaliclatitudeconverter" class of the Mapping toolbox https://www.mathworks.com/help/map/ref/map.geodesy.authaliclatitudeconverter.inverse.html?searchHighlight=inverse&s_tid=doc_srchtitle Octave should avoid this alias and not further document or populate it.
