Follow-up Comment #6:

It appears that Matlab does not use any prefix when echoing lines.

This doesn't seem like something we need to copy.  I would vote for restoring
"+ " for PS4 in the GUI.  It is already the case that using the
"--traditional" option sets PS4 to "".
