Follow-up Comment #10, bug #55939 (project octave):

@Floris: Can you try the 1-input form?

In testfunc.m


function testfunc()
  eval('1z')
end


And then


dbstop if error
testfunc


I could imagine that having the optional second argument to eval, the "catch"
statement, stops Matlab from dropping in to the debugger.
