Follow-up Comment #4, bug #45532 (project octave):

The delay is still there, I once assumed it's the parser that takes it's time
but now I think it is due to a lot of overhead associated with copying the
editor text to the terminal.

So IMO this bug report is still valid but TBH I don't mind much.
