Follow-up Comment #11:

@apjanke - I wasn't suggesting that the code should support _multiple_
backends at all, rather suggesting that you might look at the various options
available before locking in on one. If possible, maybe design the code with
some separation to make it feasible to port the functions to a different
parser if the need arises someday.
