Steps to reproduce

1) type something into the command window (more than just "clc")
2) RMB "select all"

4) Switch to e.g. Notepad++, paste

After the last caret and line feed (0x3E 0x3E 0x0D 0x0A), there will be
either
* three spurious and varying characters that will display as garbage
* three spurious and varying characters that will display as garbage +
additional line feed (0x0D 0x0A)
* nothing wrong (as it should be)
