ok that makes sense.
When I tried, i had disabled system-xlibs.

We could pass the old PKG_CONFIG_PATH value to pkg config as well as the mxe
paths if compiling native.
Theres a good chace that PKG_CONFIG_PATH isnt set however, but would allow at
least setting it in order to compile
