Thanks for the fix in the Mercurial repository. By looking at the diff of
commit 38b8a0, it seems that the randomness of the unit tests will indeed
disappear.
At any rate, I just noticed that the patch that I previously sent does not
work properly, due to mistakes in the indentation of the assert commands.
Just for the record, I am attaching here a fixed version of the patch.
