Follow-up Comment #14, bug #44463 (project octave): I found that QObject::connect lets you adapt the way the execution of signal/slots is handled. I attached a patch that forces blocking execution of the slots (in the gui threads) so that print_figure (in the interpreter thread) only returns when the file is actually ready. I used the example in comment #1 for testing.
